Someone once told me I should open a restaurant...oh yea, my Mom did. Lol Who knows, it might be a great idea. But I think it must run in the family because all the ladies are GREAT cooks, I mean finger licking GOOD food! Always with an African twist of course. So what's in my pot this weekend? Pics below. Organic Pasta, beef Sausage (Never use to like it), Mixed veggies, Green & Red Pepper, Pasta Sauce (Basil & Dried tomatoes), and there you have it, a $7 meal for the WHOLE week! Yes, Lol I am mistress of stretching a buck!

There's just something about weekends that gives a feeling of optimism!...maybe its just a psychological change in how you approach each day...? Oh well, my first real Saturday off and I must say, appreciating it to the fullest! Sunny, bright, easy breezy Spring-like day *running barefoot, through a sunflower field...in my mind*

As you can see, typical Texan landscape, not much of a view.

...and the sun is shinning like no man's business :-)

So moving on. This Nigerian protest thing is really making the news o hm! Definately mixed feelings about it. My thought is, what the governemnt is trying to do, theoretically makes sense, but practically I don't see how taking such a sudden step will benefit the masses...But I'm no politician, so I'll leave the discussion to those who know best. On the other hand, what exactly is the criteria for joining the Nigerian police?? or should I say most African police forces? For people who are supposed to protect the masses, their brutality is more than common criminal sef. The pictures which have been circulating online are just...just...*lost for words* Imagine if we had a 911 system, abeg, I'd think twice before I call am! You don't know what kind of person will be showing up at your door. But not to generalize, I know there are a few good ones left. On a side note, who knew the President of Guinea Bissau died last week in Paris?? Its funny how certain things don't make the news, or maybe its just a side effect of listening to American run news stations...? Oh well, have a blessed weekend guys.. For those in Naija wuna stay safe.

OH WINTER WHERE ART THOU....

Its apparently supposed to be winter in this side of the world...But wouldn't you know it, its been as warm as anything!...I won't complaining though :-) good times...Long day.

I was going thru the 1000+ pictures I have stored on my laptop yesterday and stumbled upon pics I took with the aim of blogging about them! When you're armed with an awesome camera, EVERY thing becomes interesting...Lol.

I had never been or had interest in Museums...Till I was forced to do a project at Blanton Museum of Arts! The rest as they say is history...Fell in love with that place, but i'll let the pictures speak for themselves..

If you're hungry, I'm just gonna warn you, don't read my blog, all you'll see is FOOOD. I love cooking...I love love love watching food come together, but don't call me a fatty! Lol.

Ask me for anything, and I'll make it for you, even if I've never made it before. A while ago, I made Baked Chicken (Hen) stew with potatoes...it turned out Ok. But one thing I'm working on is cutting back on the buckets of oil I use when making stews...I end up having to sieve it out! Enjoy

Happy New Year!!!...8 days later *laugh*

There's something about an even numbered year...something wholesome.Hopefully that would mean no more procrastinating! *Yea right* Lol

Oh well, I do what I can. Needless to say, the World is definitely self destructing. From Nigeria to Syria. Terrorists causing havoc every where even for village sef...Na real wa. In the meantime, ...I've been wanting to blog about my food adventures, I have tons of pictures but for what ever reason can't seem to log into blogger...can I get a *Lazy* Lol. Anyways...The week after Christmas, I had an inspiration to make kwakoko & Banga soup (My very FIRST time)...Needless to say it ALMOST tasted like the real deal. I have resigned myself to eating substitutes till I take another trip to the Mother Land! The pictures below will speak for themselves you be the judge Ha!On a side note, I can now see why Africans are plagued with Cholesterol! I felt like I was eating something, highly oily/fatty/urgh but it was soo good. If I'm really serious about this New Year Calorie counting diet (Lol) I won't eat it again! we'll see...

For the Soup, I got canned palm nut cream, Cocoyams (which I grated...Ive got grated fingers to prove it :-). I got plantain leaves, which ended up being a waste of money because between warming them on the stove-cleaning-trying to keep it all intact, it ended up in a huge pile on the floor. I got frustrated and wrapped the rest in aluminum foil.

I'm back! Not that I went any were special...nothing as interesting as moving back to the Mother Country. I've more or less been here, but busy with Life, many changes. After months away, I finally realize what I've been missing this entire time...Blogging! My fingers have literally been itching to get back to blogging again. Well I have been compiling interesting stories, with Pictures to go along with them, but just never worked myself out of my lazy state to actually blog! Can you believe I even forgot my password to log back in?? That's how LONG its been! But not to worry, I am back to stay...Looking at doing greater things with this blog. I got tired of my regular look, so I gave the blog a little...shall we say "facelift" you like? If you noticed anything new, I now have a tab for Recipe's! I realized that I love love cooking especially new recipes, and I know people in the past have asked for various recipe's so I wanted to make it very easy to find those delish Cameroonian/African Recipes in one place. Apart from that, theres been ALOT going on behind the scenes in this world o hm. The wonderful things that are in the news nowadays, only God alone knows. But anyhow sha, will be back with pics and more posts. This was just a quick-I'm back notice! As before, comments, are most welcomed!! :-) Yep, It hasn't changed lol I still got no shame in my game!

There is no lie about it, I love food, I LOVE food...Sometimes I cook just so I can see food come together, open my fridge and you'll see all types of left overs to last me weeks!
So today i'll talk about more food :-) I've yapped about Lolita's cupcakes before...and ill keep yapping because these things look more like amazing accessories than food! Mothers day in the US is coming up pretty soon, so why not order your own transatlantic, mother's day gift? Give your Ma a taste of Europe! Back...been M.i.a for a little bit :-)
So much has happened since my last post, If you haven't already heard, Jessica Tata, the Chick I blogged about a few weeks ago, who left babysitting kids to go grocery shopping, long story short, house caught on fire, all 7 kids are now dead....She fled to Nigeria, got caught by Interpol, back in US this past Sunday...Poor girl, I just feel sorry for her...

In other news, what is this story I hear about a Nigerian pastor Albert Odulele, getting charged with sexually assaulting teenage BOYS in U.K..?, and another one was charged with Child trafficking...Na wa o!

Who doesn't remember Del Monte bananas...yum, apparently they are parting ways with CDC in 2013...I guess CDC isn't profitable for then any more. But our very own man Manu Dibango partnered with CDC, the Ministry of Argriculture and several other individuals to create Cameroon's very own Makossa Bananas! I kid you not, thats the new name for the bananas. I hope those bananas can dance a mean Makossa :-)

NAIJA DAYCARE...UP IN FLAMES...4KIDS DEAD

Last Thursday, a fire broke out in a home day care around 1:40pm in Houston Texas. The fire left 4 out of 7kids dead, and a few more in critical condition.

Why is this important, fires happen everyday, people die everyday, right? Well not when it could have been prevented. The kids who died were all between 16months to 3years old. How did the fire start?

Madam Babysitter left oil on the stove with the burner still turned on. Went down the street to do grocery shopping, was in there for 13mins, came home, house filled with smoke. Yelled for help, at the end of the day, 4 kids are dead. After the fire, police started questioning her, on Saturday, she jumped bail, is now somewhere in Nigeria.Shes just 22 years old...

A lesson for all of us, never ever leave kids unattended even if you're taking a trip to the restroom, leave the door open so you can still hear/see them. How many of us have forgotten pots on the fire only to remeber when we smell burnt food, I'm as guilty. When it comes to man ei pikin, shine your eye well well, e no easy o! read more here

Hello All,

The good news is: all who marched today are stronger morally and mentally than when we started the day. In addition, there are no broken bones, or grave injuries. Most of the people participating in the protest were doing so for their first time. In spite of the extreme and completely unnecessary brutality exhibited by the police, all of us feel stronger than ever in our resolve to bring about change in Cameroon. We are also confirmed in our strategy of non-violence in spite of having very violent forces of law and (dis)order before us.

So what happened?

Last night 2:30 a.m.

We left our strategy room feeling quite good. We were convinced we had a surprise itinerary which the police did not know about and we would be able to march for at least a half hour before they fell upon us. We were also thrilled with the symbolism of our start point: Um Nyobe’s house in Nkolmondo (one of Douala’s poorest neighbourhoods) was full of both historic and current day symbolism and would get us off with the type of energy we needed for the day. We had met with the family and they were in full agreement. Off we went to catch a few hours of sleep before our scheduled start time of 9:00 a.m.

Remember the riots first in Tunisia, then Egypt, now Libya...? Well if you haven't you must have been living under a rock! Per this video below, apparently Cameroonians are catching the rioting bug.. The video in itself shows a group of people "peacefully" rioting only to be hammered by police. Feb 23th, tomorrow is supposed to be D-day. Mass rioting is planned to oust Biya...Na wa o. You think sey Biya go leave his royal thrown? Anyhow abeg let it just be peaceful.

I've been incubating for the past two days hence no posts since Saturday...Heck who am I kidding, let me call it what it is, I've been lazy for the past two days, hence no posts :-) Lazy can be a good thing at times, you know..At least in my world~This year so far has been quite eventful and its only the 15th day of February. Which reminds me of February 14th...Retailers and Florists must have had a field day this past weekend/yesterday. Call me a party "pooper" but in my opinion, the world will still spin around its axis alright without Valentine's day. If you wait till a date to show how much you love someone...then something must be wrong with your love, I.am.just.saying...But Happy belated valentine's nonetheless~God is Love~

Today is a good day, why? we finally got a break in cold weather! Goodbye goose down garments, Hello sandals how I've missed you so! All that's missing is a grill in the backyard, roasting fish! Oh how I miss thee Cameroon. Yesterday a good friend of mines asked me if I could still remember Cameroons national anthem, to my surprise, I stumbled through to the end , and even gave a rendition in French that would have made Popol himself proud! It brought back memories of morning assembly in my Yaounde Primary school, N.E.S.S when we had to sing the national anthem, pray, sing a chorus, then march to our respective classes...I HATED those day, chai! can you imagine the disgrace of walking into school late, and getting a whooping in front of the whole school! Disgrace 101, no scratch that, child abuse 101!...Funny enough, what I'll give to transport myself back to those days...

It was reported earlier this week by Cameroon radio and telev. that 13 people including the Mayor of Kombo-Abedino, were taken hostage in Bakassi on Feb 6th, two others were killed...

Many of you, myself included, don't actively remember Bakassi, but lets keep them in our prayers, little skirmishes, arise from that area now and then. Some incidences do not make the national news, while others do...So lets not forget them...For a little history on Bakassi clique ici :-)

In Updated News...this is what the Washington Post had to say today

Cameroon's president has sent the minister of defense to the Bakassi peninsula to work toward the release of 13 government officials kidnapped last week by pirates.
Government spokesman Issa Tchiroma Bakary said late Wednesday that two more people were kidnapped than previously thought. Officials believe the hostages are being held in neighboring Nigeria.
Pirates kidnapped the officials on Sunday, and killed two paramilitary policemen Monday.
No one has claimed responsibility but officials believe it was the work of the Bakassi Freedom Fighters, a militant faction disputing Cameroon's ownership of the oil-rich tongue of land.
Bakassi was officially handed over to Cameroon in August 2008 following a verdict two years earlier by the International Court of Justice.

This is what the Secretary General at the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, Jeanne Aimée Ngobo Ekotto had to say to us:

He challenged Youths to hunt information on programmes and opportunities for the youth which are available at centres for Youth development initiatives like National Employment Fund, the Ministry of Youth affairs, the Support Fund for Rural and Urban Youth and other youth empowerment structures. The National Youth Employment Week has also been organised to empower the youth on how to face the challenges of unemployment, cyber crime, prostitution and other mal practices in school.Experts argue that these malpractices are as a result of ignorance, hardship and low standards of living reasons why Youths are encouraged to be hard working, proactive and create social networks that would help them share ideas and improve upon their situation.

Is it just me, or you also see something wrong with the highlighted sentence?? These mal practices are as a result of IGNORANCE, (No) HARDSHIP (yes) LOW STANDARDS OF LIVING (yes) ENCOURAGE YOUTHS TO BE HARDWORKING (yes) IMPROVE THEIR SITUATION (Paul biya na ya work be this)

Paul Biya, et tout tes Ministère la qui mangent tout l'argent, wuna PAY UP! Its ridiculous to think that EXPERTS will argue that the reason why kids cheat or steal or prostitute is because of ignorance! Yes some of them might do it out of ignorance, but don't you think if they had a good outlet to keep themselves occupied, if they had HOPE for the future, and know that when they work hard in school and graduate at the top of their class, they will have JOBS, then they will aspire to strive harder! All these nonsense Ministers and President who don't know a thing about developing their OWN country. Na every man for himself, God for we all...But the fact that they even held a Youth Employment Week means they are at least trying...Right?

Africa's Children...

These past few weeks, news stations have been over flowing with the riots going on in North Africa, the Sudanese elections, and Charles Taylor's trial...For those who live in these specific countries, their lives have been greatly affected no doubt, some more than others. But it is those individuals whom we rarely hear of in the news, the victims who are forced to fight at a very young age, I want us to remember....They are our childrens best friends, neighbors children, nephews, and nieces...They are the Child soldiers of Africa. During Charles Taylor's time in office, we saw them in the news, when we watch movies like Blood Diamonds, we see their experiences acted out...You need not meet them in person to realize the atrocities they have experienced, all you need is to take a look at a photo, look into their eyes, to see the anger, the pain, how unfair life is...and remember that 7 year old's are not meant to be soldiers...

I was casually browsing the web today, and look what I stumbled upon...I know it is common knowledge alright, but its the first time I at least have seen it on the news...internationally

Basically a new book written by Prof Jean Emmanuel Pondi on Sexual Harassment in Cameroonian universities...

Its been causing some ripples across the country's universities and amongst its students. This is not only a "Cameroonian problem" but rather its a problem faced in many other African Universities. Its there, its common knowledge, people know about it, we all know its wrong, but what's being done about it? Those who completely oppose it, don't have a medium of speaking out, then there are those who ride on its waves to get that degree...Anyhow to each his own...one God for all.

So apparently our Uncles and Aunties down in Malawi think its improper to mess the air, gas, aka Fart. How can I describe the emotions I felt when I first heard about this apparent "law"...I thought it was funny, so I laughed, then I was left in incredulous disbelief, followed by confusion! Apparently people down in Malawi must fart a WHOLE lot for there to be a law like this :-)

This is how the Law reads

"Any person who vitiates the atmosphere in any place so as to make it noxious to the public to the health of persons in general dwelling or carrying on business in the neighbourhood or passing along a public way shall be guilty of a misdemeanour."

She will kill me when she sees this! But she is BEAUTIFUL, an AMAZING friend, and I want the whole world to know :-)...and I also like putting her on the spot!

But my whole point is this, you as an African woman, whether, Cameroonian, Nigerian, South African, or Sudanese are beautiful, every inch of you. The media has pushed forward for decades an image of African women, that all the West see when they think of us is, half naked, nappy hair in bakala (cornrows, braids), dark, greasy skin people. But I must say, we are Africa's best kept secret! The beauty God has ingrained within us is not only outside, but inside too. Our strength of will surpasses that of 10 men combined. With that strength we are able to hold down our families, in time of hardship we are the corner stone, we wipe away others tears, while ours flow freely. Yes, I might be the shade of midnight with the glow of the moon on my skin, but I am God's own Woman, and Africa is God's own continent!

The story I am about to post, many of us have heard different variations of it. Cameroonians or even Africans who go abroad to later return home, only to find a "wife" or"husband". Hahaha...make I laugh small before I continue....Many of you at this point already know were I am heading to so just read the story below and ponder on it....Courtesy of Post News paper

One Eddy Ngassa, was, January 21, detained at the 12th Police District in Douala, for reportedly scamming a Cameroonian woman whose only name the police released as Catherine. Ngassa, who passed for a Black American, allegedly duped her purported fiancée, Catherine, a Douala-based hair dresser, of FCFA 4 million.

The story goes that Catherine, like many Cameroonian girls these days, had nursed the ambition of getting married to a wealthy white man with the hope of making quick money

Hence, in the course of one of these desperate Internet searches in 2009, she landed on Ngassa, who presented himself as a Black American.

He is said to have claimed he had learnt French during business trips to France. A "romantic" relationship is said to have rapidly developed between Ngassa and Catherine, with both exchanging pictures, with Ngassa sending but fake pictures of himself as being a Black American. He also reportedly promised to enable her "lover" realise her dream by bringing her over to the US and marrying her. Catherine is said to have broken the "good news" to her mother, who threw all her support behind the venture.

Meanwhile, the purported Black American fiancé set some conditions for Catherine to fulfil and then move over to join him in US. It is reported that Ngassa demanded that for Catherine to demonstrate her seriousness, she would be the one to raise the money to obtain her passport, visa and air ticket. Then, he would take over everything including her family's needs. He also reportedly advised Catherine to contact a young Cameroonian friend of his living at the Eleveur neighbourhood in Yaounde, who would help her to obtain the required documents and air ticket.Catherine is said to have contacted Ngassa's purported friend. Unknown to her, the Cameroonian was in fact, Ngassa, who told Catherine that FCFA 4 million would be required to obtain all the documents and the air ticket which, he said, had to be presented at the US Embassy for the visa.

Catherine is said to have sold out her hair-dressing equipment, withdrew all her savings and even borrowed some money but all could not make FCFA 4 million. Her mother and family members had to raise some money by selling property and borrowing to enable Catherine make up the amount. Catherine then handed the FCFA 4 million to Ngassa.

Ngassa Vanishes

A few weeks after Ngassa received the FCFA 4 million, he stopped contact with Catherine. The purported black American fiancé also stopped communicating with Catherine and his e-mail address also went out of function. It soon dawned on the young woman that she had been duped.Throughout the rest of 2009 and 2010, Catherine searched for Ngassa in Yaounde and Douala, in vain. Then, on January 21, 2011, she coincidentally met Ngassa at Banamoussadi in Douala. She gripped him and raised an alarm. Ngassa was taken to the 12th Police District where he swore that he had never met Catherine before. He was, however, detained as the police opened investigations. The Post learned that the police soon discovered that Ngassa was recently released from New Bell Prison where he is said to have spent a year for scamming another person.

NEW CAMEROONIAN AIRLINES HIRING: COMING SOON...

Is Cameroon the only country without a national airline...? Well apparently, as of March 28th 20011, Cameroon will have a newer revamped airline company AGAIN. The new Camair Co headed by Nigerian Afrik Air developer Alan Vanet has been given a 60 day deadline till its first flight. The company is expected to begin business with 420 employees and four aircraft's including the DJa. Where they will fly to has not yet been made public...

All power to the first few people to fly with the airline--because me so, I go need na a whole 5 years for gain confidence!--But I am happy Cameroon is stepping up, and hopefully this ushers in newer things to come! New year, new beginnings...right? :-)

I was browsing through the CNN website today and look what I stumbled upon!

African women and the weave/braid/wig wearing culture. Watching it, I realized how very true it is that in Africa, you look around and see the majority of women with some sort of synthetic hair on. Be it green, red, yellow, brown, wetti you no fit see (what can't you find). Some women actually pull off the wig wearing, weave whipping, while some just look hideous in it. Some wear wigs...while others wear WIGS. By WIGS here, I'm talking about the ones that you see and immediately think, "massa! ton cheveux la ce comment noh" lol But anyhow, this video just stroke a cord and I thought I should share it...Enjoy

For those of you following the developements in the news these past few days, I am sure you heard of the rioting going on, first Tunisia, now Egypt. Why are they both important?

1) They are African countries (although America would rather view them as part of the Middle East for their own benefit)
2) The young people rioting because of, high unemployment rates and the government not doing anything to remedy the issue. (Although that isn't the only reason for the riots)
3) The dictatorial reign of Hosni Mubarak (who by the way allegedly is or was planning on having his son succeed him) & Zine El Abidine of Tunis

Aren't all these reasons the same situation for Cameroon, first we have a president who has no intention of going anywhere, people graduate from Universities eveyday with very good GPA scores only to stay home and eat fufu/eru because there are no jobs...Something has to be done...

Unlike Tunisia and Egypt, I remember about 2 and a half years ago when the Cameroonian populace rioted...they were called "Apprentice sorcière" (Sorceres apprentice) by Mr Popol himself (Paul Biya)...And that was the end of the issue

I say lets take to the streets again and run him out of town!

BAMENDA=FASHION...?

Ok, I must start with a disclaimer: To all my bamenda peoples, I have nothing against wuna o, so no take me seriously :-)

This past Dec 26th or 25th I forget the date, our lovely Kiretters held the second annual Bamemda Rocks fashion show, in Bam'da, Northwest Province, Cameroon. So, if you are Cameroonian, think with me...When you think about Bamenda...what comes into mind..? Personally I have never ventured that way, since I am from South West but, when I think about Bamenda, I see... Fufu corn eating, short chubby people, Farm land, education for the women does not go past Lycee (High school)...right? lol

When I think of real fashion in Camer, I picture the swanky uptown places in Douala, and Yaounde...not even Limbe or Buea...not to talk of Bamenda. So when I heard about the Bamenda Rocks project I immediatly thought..Haba how are they going to "fashion up" Belinda, or Benedicta! BUT t0 my surprise, the ladies behind this venture really...Brought it! <--- I dont think thats even a word, but you get my gist. OK first things first....HAPPY NEW YEAR, BONNE ANNEE! and in true African style...HIP HIP HURRAY :). Man...I remember those days growing up in Cameroon when Christmas and New year were the BIGGEST events of the year! Rice and stew with Contry fowl, Fufu and Eru, Chin Chin, Soya hm need I continue lol. It was a time when you reached up that cupboard to pull down that dusty suitcase to bring out those clothes you specially saved for this occasion! Don't act like you don't know what im talking about haha I know you do, yes YOU. But oh well the good old days long gone...la nostalgie, c'est la vie... n'est ce pas. But yes, thank Papa J.(God) for a flawless finish of a rough year and the start of another! Your favorite Banyangi Girl definitely has MUCH to look forward to this year...Including that new Be-eM-duWb..Midnight Black, Chrome wheels, So when I drive it like this eh, hm THEY'LL say, "Yes! money has come" :)...What!? a woman can't dream anymore? lol...wait and least I forget...that Proposal......:D haha IM JUST KIDDING O ABEG! Yes I KNOW...Ive been M.I.A for the past months...BUT with very good reason though I promise :) So today I feel inspired enough to break my routine and write a blog post! Me is thinking a trip to Cameroon is already due...Its been almost a year already without real Eru...Lets just say im starting to become a fish out of water. tsk tsk tsk...In my mind im waiting for someone to just swoop down and say "My dear Phebe I think you are an amazing person, allow me to take you to Camer this Dec, all expense paid" lol only in my dreams I know...Anyhow est-ce que cinderela kind of stuff even exists...Nchwet. Yes its Sunday..and in this part of the world..Mothers Day..So happy mothers day to all the Mamas...Y'all are the backbone..I always knew that.
But apart from that, it being Sunday, Ive been reminiscing about Sunday morning services in Cameroon...All I can think about is how very joyful it was...Sunday morning was what was hot in the streets...I always looked forward to going to church..yes of course I was still in Sunday school or "Children's Church"..lol not that we did much, but one thing that has always stood out to me over the years was the singing...the praise and worship. Ive heard people say many times when they look at Africa that God has left Africa a long long time ago...But I say, if you want to find that same God, go to Africa...Go amongst the parents who have buried children...the ones trying to squeeze out a living...the war torn families...and you'll find God. That's one thing I love about being African and Cameroonian. We have an awareness of God and we don't take it lightly. The African culture is pretty much divided into 3 sections... God, Family, Food. We have God, we are very family oriented...and we over like damé, chop, grub, "on va show ca" food. Infact, we di chop sotey, we lick wa fingers them like we wan chop dem too! lol
Sunday service in Cameroon is pretty INTENSE...I look at what we call going to church in the western world and its just child's play...You attend Sunday service in Cameroon, and you'll not want it to end...the preaching the praise...not even the one in pidgin which I attended in Mutengene. That Pastor knack am for pidgin so eh, hm only that service teach me for tok pidgin fine :) But Africa is a blessing...Africa is the work of God...the Tears of God..the joy of God...the heart of God...

So anyhoo today I remembered some of the praises we used to sing when I was growing up in Cameroon (YES..I infact grew up in Africa..for all you who doubt my origins :) )and it brought back all these memories... "Na who weh papa God never do good for ei" to "Eh yahwe ey yahwe kumama" "Jesus nah biggie man o man wey no know call am small man" "Na so so wonder Jesus dey do..he sugar my tea he buttered my bread" "Winner oh oh oh, winner" "Come and see the light" "Jesus nah the only son of God o ewo..shebi nah true" etc etc etc you get my idea...I love african gospel with a passion...and you should too..its part of our culture...lock your door if you must, turn up the volume, and shake ya skin for Papa God...Trust me, I dey do am now now so :D

MY SUNDAY SHENANIGANS:YEA..SOO..I COOKED :)

Sooo today unlike every other Sunday was preeety uneventful...
I personal detest when I run out of cook able food and have to hit the grocery store...With my indecisive self, I literally take HOURS in a few square feet of shopping space...even if I have a list..
Anyhoo I finally got myself up, out the door, and into the store...I was on a mission..
Meat, and Chicken aren't my friends...well...at least for now...sooo...Guess what I went for? FISH of course! Its been a long long time my friend!
After 3hrs of cooking...yes THREE which is why I detest cooking now adays...THREE hours of cooking for only ONE person...go figure...By the time I was done with the cooking, I was more ready to hit my bed and nangaboko (Sleep) than eat...I was tired

I had myself a nice meal of Fish stew with White rice...and some unmentionable desserts after wards (Saving myself the lecture on Diabetes.. :D ) Reminds me of Cameroon... :(

Oh btw, just to clear up the rumor that has been flying about that I can't cook.. :D I CAN! All y'll who call me "American wanda" "Oyibo" this is ESPECIALLY for you!!! Phebe is African, Phebe can cook...Phebe can cook....Phebe CAN cook...person wey tok sey I be Oyibo make ei judge for ei sef!

My next mission will be to cook the almighty Eru and share pics with you Human Beings! :)

Its very funny how the most random thoughts pop up when I least expect them!
Just this evening I remembered a story I heard about a month back. Its about Petit Pays...well that says it all...if you don't know who he is, google or youtube him.
Anyways the story is that...He visited Profet T.B Joshua, one of the top televangelist in Africa today...well after Pastor Chris.
So anyways he visits the pastor at his church in Lagos, SYNAGOGUE CHURCH OF ALL NATIONS in order to receive healing and deliverance. The question that looms in everybody's mind is ''what reason took this man there''. Petit Pays complained to the man of God that he has been suffering from chronic stomach pain,evil attacks and marital problems.He claimed to have traveled right to India for cure to no avail so he has taken a bold decision to come to the church. After the man of God laid hands on Petit Pays stomach, he then turns and tells T.B JOSHUA ''I want be ya combi''
hahaha and all this was broadcasted via SATELITE! the question in my mind is...is this dude serious??? lol
hmmm...wonders shall never end!

According to our ever so benevolent Father up above, Monsieur le President Paul Biya, in his new year's speech to the Cameroonian people said Cameroon is a land of OPPORTUNITY! What an oxyMORON. Since when was Cameroon a land of opportunity???

Well...yea if you were in the business of filling your coffers with embezzled money..then Cameroon sure is a land of opportunity! I can't even think about this reasonably because it "blows my imagination" with its arrogant hilarity! I can't believe after calling his own people "Apprentice Sorciere" or Apprentice Witches (which makes HIM Master Witch) he would then stand before them, saying Cameroon is a land of opportunity. Hogwash!

Why do I blog about Africa..Finally all of you who tagged me (Bamenda babe, Kamer, Prince Hamilton) can now get your answer...almost 2months LATE!

Si je pouvais bein ecrit en francais, ca devais etre mieux...mais mon francais n'est pas...Well you get the Idea! so why exactly do I blog about Africa...Im not one to write very loong reasons why so in a nutshell

I blog about Africa because it is my heart, my love... when you love something, you want others to know how wonderful it is, you talk about it, boast about it, laugh about it, also cry about it. Its faults are excused, imperfections magnified into beauty. I want the world to see how inexplicably beautiful Africa is. The simplicity of everyday life...the level of joy in the face of distress, the strength it instills in you, the power to hope, la joie de vivre...Africa is were my heart is...and were it will die

After a long month and a half...I'm finally back on the blogosphere. Cameroon most definitely left me..speechless on all levels! In a good way mind you. I wonder were I should start with everything swimming in my head...I'll just make a basic outline so I can methodically follow through, write about all I did.

Dec 15:Arrived Dla International Hell-port
Dec17: Went Down to Buea
Dec18-Dec 21st: Traveled to Yaounde for the 1st ever Techie ICT 2008 Conference (D'Jeuga palace) Presentation with Churchill
Dec 22-27th: Started planning volunteer schedule/spent Xmas with Family
Dec 28th-Attended church service in Pigdin
Dec29th-31st: started planning for Volunteer schedule with HINT (NGO based in Buea)
Jan 1st-Jan 2nd: Fell sick with side effects from anti-malaria med.
Jan2nd-Jan8th: In collaboration with HINT founder, started planning a 3day business seminar/ Went to Link Up (another NGO in buea administrated by an ex microsofter)
Jan 8th- Jan 10th: Held seminar in Buea
Jan 11th: Spent the day down in Limbe with Mimi( cousin) Churchill (www.Afrovisiongroup.com) Steve.
Jan12th-Jan15th: Traveled to Yde, went to Marche Central (Douala)
Jan 16th: Went to Buea, Limbe, Sasse
Jan17th: left for the airport
Jan 18th: 1am departed Camair :(

This is just a list...Ill write more indepth about each point including pictures..not to talk of the food!! lets just say REAL Eru was my break fast for TWO weeks! straight

Time out...well about time

I finally have an ounce of time to squeeze out a blog post...although a short one! But I would like to thank all those who tagged me for doing so and trust me my reply is coming...its taking its time though ;) but its coming! Im taking time off for about one week to bounce back into sanity...or semi sanity...semester is over, and that calls for a long lazy winter break..but alas yours truly shall be volunteering/conferencing in the Came of the Roon...so that should be exciting, and i'll document it, all of my activities on here...so stay posted...

hmmm Integral Calculus..the bane of my existence....It strikes me how during finals week everyone looks like walking zombies..with a cup of coffee in each hand...and then you come across those whose whole Undergrad. Career depends on one exam...and after that exam, you find them oddly staring at everybody(to this, I plead guilty)...the stare of semi-insanity...the things university turns us into....hmmm...well "Texxxaaas Fiiiggghhht"

Hmmm...so basically I got told to cut back on my lax "freedom" of expression....seeing as its too...too...whats a nice way of saying it... well you fill in the blank. Well I personally do not think so, untill my blog gets banned from blogger, my language is good enough! but I will, for the sake of my good image refrain from venting on here! :D we'll see how far that goes...

Well, its been two days since the 4th and I'm still not over Obama's candidacy...is it just me, or his cabinet is gonna be made up of semi GQ models! hmmm lol...anyways...im happy for him, why wouldn't I, then again his papa is African, and SO IS MINES! :D.

So what else occupies my days...oh yes! Cameroon trip is coming up great! still have yet to get my visa though...those people better not screw with me...Ive not worked this hard, to get played by them...But I am more than excited...after many many years!! I think from today i'll start making a list of things I'm gonna eat when i get there...ERU being number ONE on my list...lol! I just hope i don't go wild and over do it...or i'll regret it when i fall sick..but men! how many days do I eat Eru thats not made with vegetable oil and TOMATOES!!

I take this moment to calmly and joy fully reflect on this past year and years in American history, being broken down to this one day...I sit here desperately holding back tears...not yet sure if it is real or a dream...I now realize who my heart has always been with...Mr Obama, you stole my heart...and I'm only now admitting it! you have fought one LOOONG HARD BATTLE...but you know...the battle has ALWAYS been the Lords....men! Michelle honey, if I were you right now, i WOULD come apart at the seams...God help you!

Dr Martin Luther and all the rest who have fought long and hard...all you guys can now stop turning in your graves..even if for a minute...centuries of black being dirt, not fit enough for the American people, has now seen one of ours...a true African-American...sit on its highest throne....

ARRRRGH I'm exausted..stressed...hungry...HMMm food is a great idea right about NOW!! but whats new...i just got done with a mass marketing campaign via Facebook http://apps.facebook.com/sponsor-me/campaign/1422 for my December Volunteer trip to Cameroon...crossing my fingers i really pray it works out good

but one interesting thing...i came across this picture of President Paul Biya(A.K.A POPOL, Cameroon president) and Family, which was weird because i can't remember the last time, he released a family pic to the public...propaganda??....and once again our dear mother Mrs. Biya has NO fashion sense whatsoever..whats with the beehive?? channeling her inner Amy Winehouse?? oh well..we still love her...i think...actually no, she's doing pretty good for herself and country this days...all the philanthropic work etc... well gotta give it to you Mr Popol, u have a beautiful family...sucks that all of them took your hight! while we are on this topic, i came across this youtube comic video(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxQtG4aaWpM) about Mr Biya himself...pretty hilarious, if u can understand Cameroon French....

Its a Friday fall/autumn evening...not my favorite time of the year...so yes im terribly bored out of my mind...I could be doing school work seeing as its already crunch time...but no, i refuse to touch my books...well maybe later at night, tap into my nocturnal side..But until then, i'll do the next best thing, BLOGGING!
